UCF Engineering For the Visually Impaired

Core Motivations:

There is an underrepresented community, often forgotten by most, with amazing potential, intelligence and virtue. Our motivation is to provide them with the resources they need to learn and succeed. Although low-income blind and low-vision communities should have a fair opportunity to learn, access information and succeed, most of the technology that would help them is very expensive. Our goal is to provide them with the resources they need to learn and succeed.

Our Mission:

To understand the Low-Income (Blind & Low vision) community’s needs, develop and assemble viable and inexpensive open-source solutions for them. As engineers we have the power and responsibility to provide access and opportunities to others. We want to empower the underrepresented visually impaired community to be able to learn and succeed.

Research Methodology:

The research methodology as well as the action plan will be explained in detail to those that have applied and were accepted as a member in the team. This is a formal research  methodology. This is a great opportunity to learn from each other, have hands on experience, participate in the research, and most importantly - help others gain access by giving back to these underrepresented communities.

Our Team:

We are currently accepting and organizing members for particular roles in our team. There are open positions, based on what is needed at that moment and the applicant's expertise.
